Coimbra
The Casa Amarela Collective returns to Coimbra for another night of experimental electronic music, featuring live performances by Haydn Douet Lukies and Marie Dior & Sofia Hemrage, as well as a DJ set by earthboy.
Haydn Douet Lukies is a percussionist whose practice focuses on highly resonant objects and sounds that interact with space. Based between Portugal and England, he has developed a distinctive approach to solo percussion, working with metals and antique glass alongside architectural surfaces. His music draws on a wide range of influences, from minimalism and Arabic percussion to industrial beat and dub.
Marie Dior and Sofia Hemrage are sound artists whose practices explore tuning, timbre, and texture through complementary processes. Marie Dior works with microtonality, pure tones, distortion, synthesis, and sampling, while Sofia Hemrage focuses on drone music, exploring the creation of sonic and timeless spaces through the pipe organ. Together, they are developing a new compositional practice born from the meeting of these languages, investigating harmony, spatialisation, and the relationships between sound, matter, and the body.
earthboy is a music lover in all its forms and shapes. In 2019, he fell in love with the rawness, complexity, and ecstasy of Bass Music during a particularly hot night on the dancefloor of the much-missed Aqui Base Tango. Since then, the relentless search for the perfect sub-bass has never stopped. He has shared this and many other sonic journeys with listeners of RUC, where he works as a radio host, particularly through the programme Cyberia, which he co-hosts with fellow members of the station. Jungle and Drum & Bass are his main obsession, and he has already played records at various venues across Coimbra, including Casa das Artes Bissaya Barreto, Rádio Baixa, and the TEUC Teatro de Bolso, among others, as well as at events such as Palco RUC and Festival Apura. He is also a member of the local production collective CIGA239 and contributed to the compilation Uau! Verão (2025) with the track “2h39 no cidral (subsídio de férias dub)”.
